Michael O'Shea is an eclectic musician, producer and artist with a degree in philosophy and a penchant for post-structuralist literary theory and abstract photography. In 2007 he started an electro-rock project called Kinjac and wrote, recorded and produced seven solo albums under that name by the end of 2010, writing, recording, mixing and mastering all the material himself. He also is the president & producer of Solotechne Records.
After spending the summer of 2010 living in Stockholm, Sweden, he came back with the seventh Kinjac album (No. 7) and a range of material inspired by the experiences he had in a transatlantic relationship with a Swedish girl. His first release as Michael O'Shea is called Postcards and was the feature of a Kickstarter project to fund its novel release on postcards with download codes (aptly named Sonicards) instead of CDs. His latest album as Kinjac is a concept album called Incandescent about the same transatlantic relationship.
As a producer, Michael O’Shea has worked with artists like Eprhyme, C.J. Boyd, and Ali Baba’s Tahini (an Umphrey’s McGee side project), with production credits on releases from K Records, Joyful Noise Records, SCI Fidelity Records, and every Solotechne Records release. With his Kinjac project, he has shared the stage with names like Saul Williams, Thavius Beck, K-the-I???, Eprhyme, CJ Boyd and O’Death.
